Doctor Who: Every Prophecy In The Show - Explained

1. The Prophecy Of The Arrival

Towards the end of Doctor Who's underrated spinoff, Class, we heard various characters in the show speak of something called "the Arrival".

These characters talked about the Arrival with great reverence, like it was a sacred, almost religious event. The very end of the final episode teases what it might be, with iconic Doctor Who baddies the Weeping Angels showing up in a surprise cameo, working with a group of humans called the Governors.

The Governors' leader then tells the Angels that "we will be ready for the Arrival", and we get a glimpse of a stone tablet depicting a giant Angel towering above London.

"This setback is temporary. We will be ready for the Arrival. Oh yes, we will be ready on that glorious day."

Unfortunately, Class was cancelled before more information could be revealed about this cliffhanger, but the creator of the show has teased that Series 2 would've involved the Angels' home world, and an Angel civil war.

So, perhaps the group of Angels that is working with the Governors has broken away from the rest of their race, leading to a battle between two different clans of Angels?

Or, maybe the giant Angel in the tablet is meant to be taken literally. We've seen enormous Angels before (the Statue Of Liberty), so the Arrival could simply mean the arrival of a massive Angel. Seems a bit silly, but this is Doctor Who, after all!

Due to the lack of a proper Class follow-up, all we can do is speculate.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
