Following the events of Clara's departure and the final farewell to River Song, The Pilot comes as a breath of fresh air for the Twelfth Doctor.

The introduction of Bill and the more laidback relationship between her and the Doctor is a welcome change of dynamic after the darker and more serious relationship he shared with Clara. The best Doctor/companion relationships are those that have a good balance of humour and drama (much like Ten and Donna) and this one certainly feels like the right change for Twelve's journey from gruff granddad to cool space wizard.

And bonus points for the photos of River and Susan on the Doctor's desk! But mainly the River one.
