Doctor Who: Every Tenth Doctor Episode Ranked From Worst To Best

23. Smith And Jones

Doctor Who The End of Time
BBC Studios

Smith and Jones is one of the most bonkers episodes of Doctor Who ever.

The madness starts when the action is moved to the Moon... with a platoon... of Judoon. The plot itself feels like Russell T Davies swinging for the fences, as the rhino police invade the hospital on the moon in search of a bloodsucking old woman.

It's a ridiculous episode but it also feels strangely grounded: the stakes are high and the pace is rapid, and Freema Agyeman is immediately winning as Martha Jones.

It's far from the greatest series opener in Doctor Who, but it's solid, and effectively accomplishes its main job of introducing the new companion.
