Doctor Who: Every Tenth Doctor Episode Ranked From Worst To Best

24. The Unicorn And The Wasp

Doctor Who The End of Time
BBC Studios

Instead of going for a serious murder mystery drama, The Unicorn and the Wasp features hilariously heightened versions of characters you'd find in Agatha Christie books. And it works really well.

You have the holier-than-thou Reverend, the lady of the manor burdened with a dark secret, and the common cockney girl disguised as an upper-class lady.

While the episode is obviously a loving ode to Christie's stories, there's also a hint of cynicism at this fairly rigid murder mystery plot which the episode cleverly dissects and parodies.

The mystery in this instance though is smart, the characters memorable, and the Doctor and Donna on top form as they attempt to figure out the murderer alongside the equally-bewildered Christie.

And there's a giant wasp! Love a giant wasp.
