Doctor Who: Every Tenth Doctor Episode Ranked From Worst To Best

10. The Sound Of Drums/Last Of The Time Lords

Doctor Who The End of Time

Considering that this story features a post-apocalyptic Earth where the Master has murdered millions, it's a surprisingly fun time.

Letting John Simm bounce around with a terrifying energy helped bring this insane and hilarious version of the Master to life, and he quickly became a fan-favourite. It also speaks volumes about the talent of David Tennant that he manages to make us tear up as he cradles the dying Master in his hands.

It's an ambitious tale that does suffer in its final reel due to a cringey reset button that turns the Doctor into flying space Jesus, but for John Simm's scene-stealing performance, an outstanding turn from Freema Agyeman, and several truly unforgettable moments - like the Face of Boe revelation, or the Master rocking out to Voodoo Child while the Earth is annihilated - it earns its spot in the upper tier of Tenth Doctor stories.

An avid cinephile, love Trainspotting (the film, not the hobby), like watching bad films ironically (The Room, Cats) and hate my over-reliance on brackets (they’re handy for a quick aside though).
