Doctor Who: Every Tenth Doctor Episode Ranked From Worst To Best

33. Planet Of The Dead

Doctor Who The End of Time
BBC Studios

A desert planet, a bright red bus, humanoid flies, a jewel thief, and a herd of flying stingrays. This is a combination that could only ever work on Doctor Who.

Planet of the Dead is a fun episode which doesn't take itself too seriously, as is evident with the casting of Lee Evans as the bonkers scientist Malcolm. As you would expect from Evans, he steals every scene he's in while advising the Doctor on the phone, and his actual meeting with the Doctor at the end is heartwarming stuff.

Another welcome addition to the Whoniverse is Michelle Ryan as Lady Christina de Souza, who feels like a proper equal to the Doctor, matching his wit, courage, and leadership.

While the pacing does leave a lot to be desired, this is the last story where David Tennant gets to enjoy an hour of wackiness before his final two sombre tales.
