Doctor Who: Every Title Sequence Ranked From Worst To Best

11. The Seventh Doctor (1987-1989)

The cheeky, yet charming Seventh Doctor had an era born from controversy and shunning of Sci-Fi from the BBC. Though his time in the TARDIS wasn't a complete tire fire, there were a few questionable moments during Sylvester McCoy's run. The title sequence, though not completely horrific, was unfortunately nothing more than a glorified tech demo. Though the technology at play was some of the most advanced used for television at the time, the opening sequence felt like one of the most drawn-out of the lot.

For the late eighties, the visuals are stunning. From the thousands of stars, to the TARDIS encapsulated in a force field, and motif of flying rocks and 3D 'WHO' lettering, this was quite a spectacle. But 'spectacle' was unfortunately all this was. As the years have progressed, this opening sequence has sunk into relative obscurity in comparison with the other titles on this list. However, McCoy's portrait winking at the camera gave the viewers of Time and the Rani back in 1987 a perfect first impression of the Doctor to come.

Also the go-to for Doctor Who, and could tell you why Sans Serif fonts are better than most. Still occasionally tap dances under the desk.
