Doctor Who: Every Title Sequence Ranked From Worst To Best

10. The Third Doctor (1970-1973)

When Doctor Who exploded onto our screens in vibrant colour back in 1970, the title sequence was more of the same, but was viewed from what felt like an almost different dimension. Eventually seeing the blue of the iconic blue box was one thing, but seeing just how many colours could be crammed into the opening of Spearhead from Space was another. Whilst the visuals were still very reminiscent of the first two opening sequences for the first two Doctors, the splash of colour, and almost trippy feel set this apart from what came before.

The Doctor's portrait emerging from within the 'vortex' was something we had seen in Patrick Troughton's opening, but seeing the pink and peach tones blend into Jon Pertwee's full-colour portrait was as equally mind-blowing as the first time viewers saw the original title sequence back 1963. Also, the Pertwee era logo has to be the best of the bunch. I just wish it became the logo for the series going forward after its heavy use during the 50th Anniversary. That's not to say that the incumbent logo is bad, it's still gorgeous all the same. Anyone for a logo ranking?

Also the go-to for Doctor Who, and could tell you why Sans Serif fonts are better than most. Still occasionally tap dances under the desk.
