Doctor Who: Flux - 15 Huge Details We Just Learned About Series 13
1. What Is The Flux?
The Flux is the big mystery at the heart of Series 13, and even though we have different episodes centred on Sontarans, Weeping Angels, and Ravagers, everything that happens is going to link back to that central concept.
We obviously don't know what the Flux is yet (there are theories that it's some sort of multiversal event, which, given the current obsession with multiverses in pop-culture, wouldn't be surprising), but both Chibnall and Strevens have talked about it, giving us a few interesting clues regarding what to expect.
Chibnall has teased "the Flux is a mysterious event that is going to have an effect on all the characters in the story," whereas Strevens went into far greater detail, revealing that the Flux is a "destructive force" that's "unleashed" for unknown reasons:
"Flux is the title of the series... it’s kind of the biggest nemesis that the Doctor has ever faced. It’s a huge destructive force but quite what it is and why it’s become unleashed will become apparent as you watch the serial unfold. It’s quite awe-inspiring and terrifying and the way it’s realised on screen will be I think quite breath-taking for the audience as they realise what the Flux is and what the Flux does."
It almost sounds like the Flux has a mind of its own. What if it isn't simply an "event" as Chibnall said, but some sort of powerful entity, one that knowingly wreaks havoc on the fabric of space and time?
Whatever it is, we'll start getting some answers when Series 13 hits our screens in just a few days.
