Doctor Who: Flux - 15 Huge Details We Just Learned About Series 13

12. The Series Is A Jumping-On Point For Non-Fans...

While it's unclear just how big a refresh Series 13 will be (e.g. will we see a new title sequence and theme tune?), the fact that we're getting a brand-new companion while also kicking off a singular, six-episode story means that this series will work as a jumping-on point for Doctor Who newcomers.

Executive producer Matt Strevens has confirmed this, stating the following:

"If you’ve never seen it before, you can step in on this story... it’s something everyone can enjoy. If you were ever going to come on board with Doctor Who, now is the time."

Now sure, there's bound to be an element of "PR speak" in that comment (he's not exactly going to scare off new viewers, is he?), but at face value, Series 13 does seem different enough that non-fans will be able to invest in it quite easily.

At the same time though, the series isn't going to just wipe the slate clean and forget everything that came before...

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
