Doctor Who Flux: The Halloween Apocalypse Review - 6 Ups & 3 Downs

5. The Malfunctioning TARDIS

This episode sets up countless mysteries and questions that will be addressed later in the series, which is another positive we'll discuss later.

The TARDIS deserves its own special mention here though, because, well, it's the TARDIS. And it's dying. This machine is the one constant in the Doctor's life (let's not forget, it's the only companion that's been there from the start), so to see it wither away like this is almost heartbreaking.

As for what's causing this... it has to be the Flux, right? Karvanista does say that the Flux will rip through the structure of the universe, so it isn't a stretch to assume that the TARDIS will also be affected in some way.

Oh, and the TARDIS interior having a lopsided door was a neat visual touch, as was the tar-like substance dripping from its beams. We're excited to see how this plot thread unfolds, and what other odd symptoms the TARDIS will develop - maybe we'll even see a merging of old console rooms at some point?

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
