Doctor Who Listen Review: 10 Things We Learned

10. Danny Pink Might Be The Love Of Clara's Life

One of the most fun things about the introduction of Danny Pink into the show is that is has allowed Moffat to have another crack at the at the romantic situation comedy he delivered so well in his show Coupling. We assume of course that the scenes with Clara and Danny at Coal Hill School in Into The Dalek were his contribution to that episode. They certainly had the same vibe as their scenes in Listen. The banter, the flirting and the horrific realities of dating were played to great effect in Listen and it was great to see Clara moving on from the quasi-girlfriend relationship she had with the Eleventh Doctor. This series has been a revelation for Clara, not just in terms of Jenna Coleman's performance but the more mature relationship she shares with the Twelfth Doctor. In Listen we saw that she had a future with someone other than a mad man in a box (though Danny certainly seems to have issues of his own) and that connection may make Danny Pink the love of her life. Considering what we learned about her great grandson - more on that later - we're starting to see the future for Clara Oswald and it isn't all darkness and despair in the farthest reaches of space.
