Doctor Who: Looking Back At The Alternate Doctors

3. The Fatal Death Doctors

Doctor Who Fatal Death DoctorsWho Played Them? Rowan Atkinson, Richard E. Grant, Jim Broadbent, Hugh Grant, and Joanna Lumley When Did They Appear? The 1997 Comic Relief spoof The Curse Of Fatal Death A decent parody of the Doctor is very difficult to pull off since there€™s such a large number of character traits to spoof but Steven Moffat€™s five parody Doctors each capture some very familiar elements of the Doctor incredibly well. There€™s a great range of personalities for the Doctor here including Rowan Atkinson€™s very sarcastic and almost Blackadder-esque portrayal, Richard E. Grant€™s vanity, and Jim Broadbent€™s bumbling shyness around women. And since it€™s a comedy spoof, these different personalities (many of which we€™d seen shades of in previous Doctors) are milked for all they€™re worth with hilarious results, particularly when Joanna Lumley€™s Doctor is introduced. The real standouts are Atkinson and Lumley which is natural since they€™re the Doctors that survive the longest but the other Doctors are still very amusing despite their limited screentime.
