Doctor Who: Looking Back At The Alternate Doctors

4. The Unbound Doctors

Doctor Who Unbound DoctorsWho Played Them? Geoffrey Bayldon, David Warner, David Collings, Ian Brooker, and Arabella Weir. When Did They Appear? The series of audio plays Doctor Who Unbound, which featured hypothetical stories set in alternate versions of the Doctor Who universe Some of these feel the like the Doctors who could have been, especially David Warner. The best thing about these Doctors is that although they€™re drawn from the programme€™s established continuity up to a point, anything that comes after the point where the Unbound story is established is completely disregarded, allowing the lives of these possible Doctors to progress in any direction while still bearing similarities to the Doctors they€™re based on such as Geoffrey Bayldon€™s First Doctor initially being a Gallifreyan author and Arabella Weir€™s Doctor hiding from the Time Lords on Earth and working in Sainsbury€™s. The biggest change to the mythos is comedienne Arabella Weir€™s Doctor, the only female Doctor apart from Joanna Lumley. But on the whole, the Unbound Doctors are very faithful to the overall personality of the Doctor and it€™s an interesting set of hypotheticals. Especially the alternate Third Doctor being exiled to Hong Kong in 1997 instead of 1970s/80s England.
