Doctor Who NuWho Companions: Where Are They Now?

7. Catherine Tate

Catherine Tate was an established household name in the UK when she signed up for a one off jaunt in Doctor Who's 2006 Christmas Special, The Runaway Bride, as the self proclaimed "best temp in Chiswick", Miss Donna Noble. Her character made one of the most memorable entrances in the show's history when she suddenly appeared in the TARDIS, and just seconds after the Tenth Doctor's heartbreaking farewell with Rose Tyler, looking particularly perturbed and wearing a wedding dress. Because why the hell not? Catherine was already known and loved for her critically acclaimed sketch show which introduced the world to a multitude of her celebrated comedic creations including Lauren "Am I bovvered?" Cooper. It wasn't until her subsequent return to Doctor Who in 2008, though, and this time as the TARDIS' full time co-resident, that she really got the chance to stretch her acting muscles... and then some. Since leaving the wonders of the Whoniverse behind, Catherine has mainly focused on her comedy with a recurring role in the US remake of The Office in which she appeared in 37 episodes as Nellie Bertram. She's also been treading the boards, too, and in 2011 she reunited with her former Doctor Who co-star David Tennant for a universally praised West End production of Much Ado About Nothing. Later this year she'll be taking to the stage once more as Sara Jane Moore in Assasins.
