Doctor Who: Ranking The Christmas Specials From Worst To Best
'Tis the season for a Cybermen invasion.
Two of the most wholesome, enjoyable and generally wonderful things in the world join forces every year, come December: Doctor Who and Christmas. Yes, once again, tis the season for holiday cheer, indulgent sentimentality, and everyones fair share of aliens, robots, and of course alien robots. In high anticipation for the, thus-far excellent, Peter Capaldis Christmas debut, here is another retrospective on New Whos Christmas specials: festive extra episodes that, for better or for worse, have become as much a hallmark of the holiday season as tinsel, trees, and turkey for Whovians everywhere over the course of these past nine years. While frequently skirting the twin realms of camp and cheese, the hour-long specials each have a little something to them be it a dramatic alien invasion with Grinch-like bad timing or Christmassy ethereality closer to magic than sci-fi that make them the perfect thing to cuddle up on the couch to on a cold December night after Christmas dinner. With nine memorable episodes already under the reboot series belt, come Christmas, fans will have to wait and see how Capaldi stacks up against some of Matt Smiths and David Tennants finest holiday moments.
