Doctor Who: Ranking The Doctor's Sonic Screwdrivers Worst To Best

9. The Thirteenth Doctor's Sonic Screwdriver

Doctor Who Eleventh Doctor Sonic Screwdriver
BBC

Unlike any of the previous sonic screwdrivers, the Thirteenth Doctor's multi-tool was makeshift, more simplistic, and less sonic screwdriver-y than anything before.

After the TARDIS had supplied the Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors' models, it was interesting to see the first custom-made job since the Third Doctor's tinkering in the early days.

This strange-looking sonic screwdriver was built hastily out of Sheffield steel, spoons, spare parts, and a yellow-glowing crystal emitter taken from the Stenza. First appearing in 2018's The Woman Who Fell to Earth, this model is barely out of the Doctor's hand.

More of a swiss-army knife than a sonic screwdriver, this device has been used for anything and everything - from scanning to running diagnostics to wiping writing off walls. It could, however, be disabled by the Recon Dalek in Resolution, and easily overloaded.

Despite resembling the inside of her TARDIS, this sonic screwdriver doesn't always seem to match the Thirteenth Doctor as well as other models have represented their users. Perhaps in future, we'll see Thirteen use something less slapdash and more in-line with screwdrivers that came before.

Sound Advice: Some assembly required.
