10. Am I A Good Man?
Okay, series 8 rolled along and we got our new Twelfth Doctor. The second episode came, and it introduced the Twelfth Doctors character arc spanning the season. The Doctor asked the question to Clara, Am I a good man? What?! Didnt you already resolve this just three episodes ago? After 400 years of being bitter to yourself, questioning the decision if blowing up a planet and killing two entire races was the right thing to do, didnt you already decided that it was an impossible situation and your warrior self was more worthy of the name Doctor in that moment that ever? A name you yourself said means a good man? Forgiving yourself in the process, lifting a huge weight off your shoulder? The War Doctor did far worse things than the Twelfth, so why are we doing this dance again? Wasnt the answer to this question the whole point of the 50th Anniversary just 3 episodes ago that had tied up a long character arc that started since the new series began? An Anniversary that, prior to its airing, the writers have been planning for over a year? How did they not notice that the just resolved this? This should be obvious to anyone following the "last Time Lord" arc. What was even weirder; Clara didnt know how to answer when the Doctor asked if he is a good man. Again, what?! The same Clara who will tell anyone what the name of the Doctor means at the drop of a dime? The same Clara Who had witnessed the Doctor save Galifrey in his refusal to kill it? The same Clara who had made a case about the Doctor being a good man that was so touching, it convinced even the stubborn Time Lords to give the Doctor his extra lives he has right now? THAT Clara?! Oh, well. At least it had a very convincing resolution; Yes, Doctor, you are an idiot with a box.
