Doctor Who Series 10: 12 Easter Eggs & References You Might've Missed In "Knock Knock'

2. The Grandmother

The genesis of this episode could well have come from an unlikely source: a creepy short film from surrealist director David Lynch.

In The Grandmother, one of Lynch's earliest works from 1970, a lonely boy grows a tree-like grandmother from magical seeds in the attic of a dark, eerie household.
