Doctor Who Series 10: 13 Easter Eggs & References You Might've Missed In 'The Pilot'
2. Clara Callbacks
After travelling with both the Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors, Jenna Coleman's Clara Oswald casts a long shadow over the show. It's not surprising, then, that there are a couple of callbacks to the Impossible Girl in The Pilot.
First of all, the Doctor's office - yes, that again! - contains a statue of a raven. This has to be a reference to Face the Raven, the episode in which Clara was killed by the titular time-wimey bird.
More obviously, the Doctor attempts to wipe Bill's memory later in the episode. She tearfully agrees but asks him to think about what it would be like if someone did it to him. This is a nod to Hell Bent, in which the Doctor's memories of Clara are removed. To ram this home, a snippet of Clara's theme plays on the soundtrack.
