Doctor Who Series 10: Everything You Need To Know
11. Nardole’s Sticking Around
Having appeared in the last two Christmas specials, Matt Lucas’ Nardole is now a recurring presence. When he heard that the baby-faced comedian was eager to do more Who, Steven Moffat wrote Lucas' character into Series 10.
Nardole’s first appearance was broad and comedic – i.e. suited to a one-off Christmas special appearance but way too silly to be tolerable as a regular character. However, more aspects of Nardole will be explored over the course of Series 10. Describing the character’s role across the series to come, Lucas said: “You learn a little bit more about me and I’m a bit of a thorn in [the Doctor’s] side. I have a job to do, but I think you regret giving me that job.”
It’s not known how many episodes Nardole will appear in – he’ll be travelling with the Doctor and Bill but will sit out some episodes. Given how the Doc’s trips tend to end up, probably a wise decision on his part.
