Doctor Who Series 11: 10 Huge Questions We Are Asking After The Witchfinders
3. Who Brought The Morax To Earth And Why?
This time the aliens who were working their own kind of magic were not put in a good light against the evilness of the human characters. They were, at the very least, just as bad. They were very much old school Doctor Who baddies, totally preoccupied with their own survival and advancement. The Morax are as new to the Doctor as they are to us, but they’ve had a long time to break free of their prison and it’s unusual to meet an existing alien threat on Earth of which the Doctor knows nothing.
They have a particularly horrific M.O which explains why their prison was in such an obscure location. But who put them there in the first place? And wasn’t it a pretty foolish oversight not to allow for the possibility that the tree might one day be cut down by human hands, or destroyed by natural disasters. Was it an out of sight out of harm choice, a not in our back yard decision?
It was odd that the Doctor did not question the events behind their arrival, the crimes they had committed and against who, but it is even odder that she is happy to let them return to their earthbound prison.
