Doctor Who Series 11: 3 Ups & 4 Downs From 'The Tsuranga Conundrum'

2. The Hamilton Reference

Doctor Who Jodie Whittaker
BBC

John Jay got sick after writing five. James Madison wrote twenty-nine. Hamilton wrote the other fifty-one!

The Doctor references pop culture frequently in Doctor Who, most of the time mentioning something they know nothing about. But when it comes to the life of Alexander Hamilton, the Federalist Papers of 1788, and Lin-Manuel Miranda's Broadway and West End smash, she knows all.

Fifty-one. A number Yaz plucked out of thin air. The Doctor loves this number. First mentioning the number of federalist papers Alexander Hamilton wrote, then segwaying into the fact that she's seen all 900 casts of the musical adaptation. It’s like my two favourite things coming together: Doctor Who, and Musical Theater!

Born in Theatre, sits at a Computer. After over a decade of tinkering with Video Editing software, Rich gets to spend his precious time editing whatever's thrown at him. Also the go-to for Doctor Who, and could tell you why Sans Serif fonts are better than most. Still occasionally tap dances under the desk.
