Doctor Who Series 11: 4 Ups & 3 Downs From 'It Takes You Away'

1. The Concept

Doctor Who It Takes You Away

Conceptually, It Takes You Away is probably the most original story concept ever seen in Doctor Who. The idea of an entire, sentient universe, locked away on its own plane attempting to reach out for company, irrelevant of the consequences is truly interesting, and rather touching.

Even if the execution was poor in places, this shaped up to be an acceptable episode. The antizone, Ribbons, and the flesh-eating moths served very little purpose, and could've been trimmed out to put more focus on the main plot thread of the Solitract universe. If the unnecessary fat were trimmed, this could've been one of the best episodes of NuWho in years. The naff stuff aside, Ed Hime had a truly brilliant concept on his hands.

Born in Theatre, sits at a Computer. After over a decade of tinkering with Video Editing software, Rich gets to spend his precious time editing whatever's thrown at him. Also the go-to for Doctor Who, and could tell you why Sans Serif fonts are better than most. Still occasionally tap dances under the desk.
