Doctor Who Series 12: 10 Huge Questions After Fugitive Of The Judoon

8. Will The Family Turn Against The Doctor?

It would now come as a surprise if an episode passed by without the Doctor’s companions questioning their friend behind her back. Graham has become the group’s official spokesperson, the one to voice their concerns to the ‘Doc’, but Yaz and Ryan are also getting in on the act too. Yaz is the more irritated and impatient of the three and if there is to be an explosive confrontation, she may well be the one to snap first.

At this stage, the family still support the Doctor, putting her moodiness and secrecy down to an inability to open up. It’s a question of trust and they want her to believe in them as much as they feel compelled to believe in her. But there are only so many times they can trade off their positive experiences of the Doctor.

This tension may well be foreshadowing a dramatic split in the ranks, or at the very least a parting of the ways. It’s no coincidence that scenes in which the Doctor and the family are all working together are becoming fewer and fewer. The cracks in the relationship between Doctor and Companion are getting bigger and they could soon be wide enough to be exploited by one of the Doctor’s enemies.
