Doctor Who Series 7: 10 Reasons Why You Must Watch

6. The Christmas Special

I know, this is still months away, but the line up of actors and characters is already too interesting for it not to get a mention. First, we€™ll be dying for an episode after the first run of only five episodes to get us through to mid-October. Second, we€™ll need something light hearted and inspiring having said our farewell to the Ponds (poor Rory, his surname of Williams is completely forgotten) in episode five. Third, we get to welcome Jenna-Louise Coleman to Doctor Who as the Doctor€™s new companion. Fourth, Tom Ward and Richard E. Grant guest star. Fifth, Madame Vastra and Jenny are set to make an appearance. For me, the two highlights are Jenna-Louise Coleman joining the series and Madame Vastra and Jenny getting some more screen time. It€™s always interesting to see what the direction the dynamic between the Doctor and a new companion will take, and I haven€™t seen enough of Jenna-Louise€™s acting to even venture a guess. Meanwhile, Madame Vastra and Jenny struck a huge chord with viewers when they appeared in €˜A Good Man Goes to War€™. The idea of a Silurian and a human having a relationship is interesting, let alone that it is a same-gender relationship (which is sure to set phones ringing at BBC headquarters), but it€™s one that fans have been crying out to see more of, and it looks like we€™re in luck!

Working in public relations, the place where writers and creative people go to die, Gwynn maintains an eclectic mix of interests that range from long-distance running and writing through to Latin dancing and science fiction. As a child he once tried to turn his tricycle into a Dalek using sticky tape and A4 paper. His Dad didn’t appreciate his creative use of all the printer paper as much as Gwynn did.
