Doctor Who Series 9: 9 Theories That May Actually Come True

9. Osgood Is A Zygon

One of the most popular new characters over the last couple of years has been Osgood, the Doctor Who fangirl we first met in The Day of the Doctor. It seemed like we were bidding a tragic, all-too-sudden goodbye to The Doctor's biggest fan when she was vaporised by Missy during the series 8 finale. The tears we cried over her departure were premature however, as thanks to what will for now be put down to 'Who magic' the character is back. However, before rejoicing, there is one potentially major caveat to consider. When announcing her return, Steven Moffat said: "We recently confirmed that Osgood was definitely dead and not returning €“ but in a show about time travel, anything can happen. The brilliant Ingrid Oliver is back in action. This time though, can the Doctor trust his number one fan?€ In her very first Who outing, Osgood was replicated by a Zygon, who just so happen to be appearing in the same episodes that she is (7&8 of the new series, written by Peter Harness and directed by Daniel Nettheim). It may just be that the key to explaining her return is that the Osgood we saw killed was actually a Zygon pretending to be her, or even that she will now be a Zygon in series 9. Stranger things have definitely happened.
