Doctor Who Series 9: 9 Theories That May Actually Come True

8. The Red Dots

As you'd expect with filming underway, a few snippets about S9 have been teased on social media. One of the most intriguing so far is an image of a map of the world, with red dots scattered over it.

The tweet unsurprisingly had a huge number of responses, ranging from the reasonable to the ridiculous. However, most of those that did actually proffer a genuine possibility tended to veer in one or two similar directions: 1) that some sort of virus is spreading across the globe, or 2) an invasion. Whatever it is seems to be hitting the US the hardest, with areas further North left alone, so maybe we can assume they don't like the cold. A few suggestions include the Daleks (who will definitely be appearing at some point), Cybermen, the Vashta Nerada, Weeping Angels, or a mass outbreak of an infection. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to imagine it is the Daleks or Cybermen, given they're usually intent on some sort of domination or mass destruction, while it'd be great to have the Nerada or Angels back. The one piece of information that we do know about the series, which is likely to tie into this, is the presence of Kate Stewart and UNIT. It seems highly likely that this scene will be involving them, especially as this episode comes from Hettie Macdonald, which are the first two in the series (ones Jemma Redgrave is confirmed to be in), and from the latest trailer it also seems as though the Daleks will be in it as well.
