Doctor Who Series 9 New Trailer: 12 Things We Learned
6. Pan's Labyrinth Style Monsters
One of the interesting new monsters in the first trailer was one we didn't really get to see all that much of; just a number of hands breaking through the earth, looking like some very old-school take on zombies. They were back again in the latest trailer, and although we still just saw their hands, we learnt a bit more about them. More specifically we learnt just what they have on those hands, as in a very Pans Labyrinth-esque fashion they have eyes on them, which when you're rising from the ground in such a way must certainly come in, *ahem*, handy... They're super creepy, and promise to be just the kind of weird, scary monster that Who has built its name on. ScreenRant has reported that these are the Mire, which the season synopsis describes as being "deadly mercenaries."
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
