Doctor Who: The Legend Of Ruby Sunday Review - 6 Ups & 4 Downs

3. DOWN - Some Very Iffy Dialogue

Sloppy dialogue seems to be becoming a bit of a reoccurring trend this season, and I'm sad to say that The Legend Of Ruby Sunday is one of the worst offenders to date.

Some of the back and forth exposition at the start of the episode is rushed and unnatural, but the scene that jumps out is the time window scene, where Fifteen spends the entire sequence narrating what's happening around him like he's in a Big Finish audio drama.

I'm not sure if this was done because they weren't sure how much clarity there would be in the time window VFX, but given we can tell exactly what was happening on screen, Fifteen giving us the thorough rundown he does very much distracts from what is otherwise Ruby's moment.

I believe it's also time to hand out the 'worst line of the series' award to Harriet (pre-Harbinger phase):

"It's a crude videotape of a snowstorm, 19 years old, kept under the bed in a shoebox. I was born for this!"

What on earth does this even mean?
