The end of Clara€™s epic journey is the beginning of the next one. The life of a heroine is a kind of never-ending quest €“ there are always more kingdoms to defend and wizards to do battle with. The monster is defeated only to have the monster behind it revealed. If the John Hurt Doctor is the monster €“ what is the consequence of not naming him? If we don€™t acknowledge the monsters they will name themselves. They will always surface €“ returning and returning until they are seen and dealt with. Have we found the splinter of ice in the Doctor€™s heart? Is he an essential part of the Doctor€™s nature €“ the dark to balance the light?
