Doctor Who: Top 10 Christmassy Moments

1. A Christmas Carol

Well, this is it. After searching through the multitude of Doctor Who's Christmassy moments, the most festive of them all has been determined - and the result probably won't be all that surprising! Back in 2010, the Eleventh Doctor turned to his old chum Charles Dickens for inspriation when it came to solving the case of the lonely old miser Kazran Sardick, who was magnificently brought to life with a perfectly realised array of emotional layers by Michael Gambom. With Amy and Rory's honeymoon festivities being interrupted on a stricken space liner plummeting through the skies and banks of thick icy fog, it was up to the Doctor on the planet below to convince Sardick, through his usual time travelling means, to change the error of his ways by proving that life, was, in fact, worth living. With the help of Katherine Jenkins making her acting debut as the sweet and simple Abigail Pettigrew and a magical musical number to lift the spirits of even the grumpiest Scrooge, Sardick subsequently cleared the fog using his isomorphic machine and allowed the ship and its passengers to land safely. Hurrah! Showrunner supremo Steven Moffat vowed to make the seasonal story "jolly, merry and a little bit sad" and it was definitely all of the above as Matt Smith's debut Doctor Who festive outing still maintains the title of being one of the most Christmassy and inventive Doctor Who stories to date. Throw snow, crackers and a flying shark into the mix and it's no wonder this will no doubt stand the test of time as the Doctor's ultimate Christmas adventure.
