Last year the Eleventh Doctor journeyed to a town called Christmas for the Eleventh Doctor's final adventure which proved to be just as heartbreaking as his predecessor's swansong, if not even more so. In The Time of the Doctor, after vowing to protect the town from its raging war, the Time Lord proved just what a hero he can be when he stood as its protector until ultimately dying from old age, but not before being given a whole new regeneration cycle as an extra special Christmas gift from his Time Lord pals on the recently discovered Gallifrey. It was heartbreaking to see the Eleventh Doctor lose the youthful personna by which his bow tie-wearing incarnation had been defined but it served as a heartwarming and festive realisation that the Doctor will always be there to protect those who needs it. Farewell, Matt Smith. Doctor Who fans will always remember when the Doctor was you.
