Up next is the underrated 2011 festive adventure, The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe which, its title suggests, presented a timey-wimey spin on C.S. Lewis' classic Narnia tale. Set in a war-torn England in 1938, the Doctor came to the aid of Madge Arwell, who had escaped London with her two children, Lily and Cyril, following the death of her beloved husband, and their father, Reg, over the channel. In a dilapidated house in Dorset, a mysterious Spaceman Angel takes them into a magical wintry world to ensure they have the best Christmas ever. But not if the Wooden King and Queen have anything to do with it. In general it's a heartwarming escapade which is particularly noted for highlighting the significance of the Doctor's friendships. The final scene with Amy and Rory is one of the trio's more heartwarming moments which perfectly sets things up for the heartbreak of the Ponds' forthcoming exit. But for the moment, let's just sit back and enjoy the festivities, shall we?
