Doctor Who: Top 10 Companion Arrivals

1. Ian Chesterton And Barbara Wright - An Unearthly Child

Doctor Who Ian And Barbara Five decades of time and space all started with two teachers at Coal Hill School. Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright, the science and history teachers, were sharing their concerns about Susan Foreman, one of their pupils. Something was different about her, something they couldn't quite pinpoint. She was exceptionally brilliant at some subjects, inexplicably bad at others, and seemed adamant that no one come visit her at home because her grandfather "didn't like strangers." Their curiosity thoroughly roused, Ian and Barbara follow Susan home one night to see where home really is for her. This leads them to a police box in a junkyard and a cantankerous old man who appears to be hiding something... Ian and Barbara's arrival earns our number one spot because it was completely different from any other arrival episodes. Here, everything was brand new for the audience as well as the companions, which gave the entire premise an air of suspense and mystery. No other companion arrivals, not even Rose's debut in the premiere of the modern show, come close to match the intrigue and ominous overtones the way An Unearthly Child did. Those are our picks for top ten companion arrivals. Which companion arrival is your favorite? Let us know in the comments!
