Doctor Who: Top 5 Greatest Pond Adventures

2. Asylum of the Daleks (2012)

The competition for the Top Three spots on this list was heated to say the very least, but at a worthy #2 we've got the incredible series opener for this year's run of Who. Asylum Of The Daleks not only added to the fear and mystery behind the Dalek race with the introduction of their own Parliament and Mental Institution, it featured significant developments in the Pond saga that solidified our faith in these brilliant companions. As if Amy and Rory hadn't been through enough already with the Doctor's constant returns, the Cracks, the Dream Lord's future-tinkering and the tragedy of Demon's Run, the revelation that the Missus was unable to have any more children after the aforementioned tragedy that concluded the first half of Series Six felt both uniquely dark and quite realistic for Who despite its sci-fi event source. For Amy to allow Rory to find someone else and fulfill his dreams of having kids, then, was an admirable twist, however it was far more touching still to see the couple rekindle their love as they realised (whilst the Doc was off discovering Oswin's fate) how powerful a relationship they had. We've never quite seen a love like this one on Who, and of course to demonstrate the strength of its portrayal we move onto the pole position of the list...
