Doctor Who's 10 Worst Fashion Faux Pas

3. The Eleventh Doctor€™s Stetson

Doctor Who Stetson Hot on the heels of the Fez from The Big Bang came a new hat for a new series. In the Series 6 opener The Impossible Astronaut, fans find the Ponds travelling across America to meet the Doctor who is eagerly awaiting them wearing his latest acquisition in the line of headgear... a Stetson. The Stetson is best known as the hat of cowboys and thus of pure Americana. It therefore seems fitting the Doctor should choose this style for the episode and it complements the Doctor's obsession with headwear, too. The Stetson, of course, is short lived as River Song promptly does away with it in a similar manner in which she despatched of the Doctor€™s beloved Fez. Call the fashion police, sweetie! The main problem with the Stetson that many fashion-conscious people pointed out is that not only does it come across as one of the most €˜touristy€™ things the Doctor could've done while visiting the US, but it also fails to match the image the Eleventh Doctor was known for. The Fez has a history of being worn by gentlemen in various situations and thus it is slightly more acceptable than a hat which would be better placed in a saloon than in a gentleman's club. Naturally, fans can excuse the Doctor for Stetson-ing up again for Series 7€™s A Town Called Mercy wherein the Doctor takes a page out of the Master's book and dresses for the occasion.
