Dreamcasting The Watchmen TV Show
3. Christian Bale - Nite Owl II
There are certain castings that almost make too much sense not to happen. Christian Bale, years after hanging up the cowl, returning to the comic book movie scene to play a character partially based on the Dark Knight would be perfect. Bale is one of the best actors working today and would fit Dan Dreiberg like a glove.
One of the primary themes of the Dark Knight Trilogy was if there could ever be a day where a vigilante wouldn't be needed to protect the public. Having Bale return to such a Batman-esque role while not ruining the neat finish to the trilogy would preserve the Nolan series' legacy, as well as brilliantly set up the dark and realistic tone of the novel.
It is not only the obvious parallels between the two characters, but Dan Dreiberg is a superhero who has gone out to pasture, having gone past his prime. Bale has displayed on many occasions, especially throughout the filming of the Dark Knight trilogy, that he is both willing and capable of weight change for a role, and is suited to capturing the physique of a once fit man gone to flab.
