Each Brooklyn Nine-Nine Lead Ranked From Worst To Best

6. Charles Boyle

Before entering the series, Joe Lo Truglio had a wealth of screen experience. He had appeared in many successful cinematic comedy films in smaller roles. Brooklyn Nine-Nine, however, was a big breakout moment for him. He was able to establish himself as an actor that can be part of a leading cast as opposed to a small supporter and this is well deserved for Joe is a very talented comedian.

As far as the character goes, Charles is very lovable, and his strange nature makes him fascinating to watch. Compared to the others he stands out on his own and holds to his place in the show. He ranks slightly lower on the list however since sometimes his quirkiness can jump the shark a little and bring the series too far into nonsensical territory.

To expand on this, the show has no issue with taking itself too seriously and often delves into story-lines and moments that stray away from believability. Whilst this is usually well achieved, Boyle as a character tends to lean towards this more than the others, and that makes his position in the show - like Gina - feel like a detraction from the set-up.

He is still a highlight of the show, but he is up against the tough competition.
