Each Lead From The Good Place Ranked Worst To Best
4. Janet
D'Arcy Carden was a perfect fit for this show. Her wholesome portrayal of Janet was a mainstay in the series and part of what gave it such identity. She also acted as an example of how the show could carry out humorous scenarios with upmost creativity.
Janet is a being who serves Good Place residents with no true purpose in her life outside of this. However, this specific model of Janet ends up being rebooted so many times that she develops her own personality and freedom. This was a great way to make the "not a girl" feel relevant despite the seemingly undevelopable concept of her existence.
Ultimately her ability to know everything, obtain anything in the universe and other fantastical abilities gave the writers plenty of scope to establish her importance to the group. Without Janet most of the events of the series wouldn't have occurred, her presence is incredibly valuable.
This speaks not only to the narrative but to the series itself. Without D'Arcy the show would have lacked its most wholesome figure. This positive, upbeat attitude was an integral vibe for the show, and this character was its embodiment.
