Each Lead From The Good Place Ranked Worst To Best
3. Chidi Anagonye
Chidi Anagonye - like Jason - tends to slide into a stereotypical sit-com archetype, that being the nerdy control freak who has rules and obsessions that they don't like to change. But what makes Chidi extra special is the contribution that he makes to the thematic centre of the show.
Although it is an overwhelmingly silly series, the focus on philosophy and the idea of how one can be a good person grounds it and delivers a purpose outside of the humour. The driving force behind the plot, premise and meaning is the application of Chidi's lessons in how to be a good person through moral philosophy.
Further from this, the character also acts as an incredibly charming and funny presence. His constant worrying and panics make him feel relatable and gives the series a sense that someone is aware of the stakes and realism in the concept.
Finally, his relationship with Elanor is one of the reasons that the show is so beautiful. The awkward flirting and constant confusion makes their courtship unique, but once they finally become a couple they grow into their own. The relationship really helped Chidi to develop as a character.
