Emmys 2017 Nominations: 10 Most Outrageous Snubs

7. Insecure

The Best Comedy category is an interesting one. Normally, it's filled with traditional sitcoms that have overstayed their welcome. The Big Bang Theory, a perennial entry on the list (although excluded this year), has no business still being relevant, and Modern Family is funny, but is way past its glory days.

This year, however, sees a lot of more creatively interesting shows that break out of the traditional network sitcom mode, and more than ever shows that celebrate creators and talent of color.

But there is one glaring omission in the category, and that's the HBO comedy Insecure. Heading into its second season, Insecure tells the story of two black women in their early 30s navigating the world and the contemporary black experience.

Its first season received rave reviews from critics and has amassed a loyal following, but was shut out from this year's Emmys. The bright side is that since this show is still fairly early on in its life cycle, and hopefully will have plenty more opportunities for glory.
