Emmys 2017 Nominations: 10 Most Outrageous Snubs
5. Winona Ryder - Stranger Things
While we were all bemoaning the undeserved fate of Barb, Winona Ryder's out here in the cold with no Emmy nomination, despite rightfully earning one at the Golden Globes. What gives?
Sure, the fever pitch of the Stranger Things phenomenon feels like ages ago, particularly with the cultural pace where a week feels like just under three years and memes become outdated in a matter of days.
But Winona Ryder's frenzied yet somehow understated performance as a mother whose son goes missing under mysterious circumstances uses every once of her wild-eyed oddness in the best possible way, and she should have received a nomination.
After all, Hollywood loves nothing quite so much as a great comeback story, and the former film star finding renewed success on a bizarre little science fiction/fantasy show on Netflix would make one for the books. We were looking forward to her nomination if only so that we could see her priceless facial expressions at the awards ceremony. But alas, it was not to be.
