Emmys 2017 Nominations: 15 Major Shocks & Snubs

6. Shock: Jason Bateman (Actor In A Drama Series – Ozark)

Twin Peaks Emmys
Netflix

Jason Bateman was awarded with not one, but two nominations by the Academy. His first is for Outstanding Directing for his work on an episode of Ozark, and his second is for his leading performance in Ozark.

Ozark wasn't as successful as people had hoped. Judging by the reaction the Netflix series received on social media, people either loved it or hated it. Critically, it was received rather well, and many writers made comparisons between it and Breaking Bad - which is likely why it was a disappointment for many. Let's be real: Can anything live up to Breaking Bad? Exactly.

Even though Bateman did a great job portraying protagonist Marty Byrde, nobody really thought that he'd pick up a nomination for Best Actor. Good for him though, as he thoroughly deserves it.
