Emmys 2017 Nominations: 15 Major Shocks & Snubs

1. Snub: Twin Peaks (Outstanding Limited Series)

Twin Peaks Emmys
Showtime

The 18-part revival of Twin Peaks that aired last year was unlike anything else television has ever seen, and it subsequently received critical acclaim for its innovativeness and originality. The creative genius that is David Lynch created an entirely new genre with his work in this visual masterpiece, and yet for some baffling reason, the Academy has decided to not give the series a nomination for Best Limited Series.

Twin Peaks was thought to be a dead cert for Outstanding Limited Series, and yet it failed to make the cut. Much like MacLachlan's omission, the only reason that would make any sense is that the Showtime series lost steam over the year since it aired. But even then, it's more worthy of a spot on the Limited Series list than Godless and The Alienist. The omission has already caused uproar, with Twin Peaks trending on Twitter following the nomination reveal.

To add insult to injury, it's not just Twin Peaks and McLachlan that were snubbed, as the entirely line-up of celebrated actors that took part in the series were overlooked too.
