Emmys 2018: Who Should Win Every Award (And Who Actually Will)
19. Directing For A Limited Series, Movie, Or Dramatic Special
Nominees: Godless (Scott Frank); Jesus Christ Superstar: Live in Concert (David Leveaux); Paterno (Barry Levinson); Patrick Melrose (Edward Berger); The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story (The Man Who Would Be Vogue; Ryan Murphy); The Looming Tower (9/11; Craig Zisk); Twin Peaks (David Lynch)
Should Win: Twin Peaks
Twin Peaks: The Return didn't get anywhere near the Emmys love it deserved, so it should really win everything it is up for. David Lynch directed all 18 hours of this nightmarish return to the titular town, where nothing went as expected. It's a feast for the eyes and the ears, with Lynch's direction used to dazzling, discombobulating effect.
Will Win: The Assassination of Gianni Versace
Ryan Murphy is better known as a writer and producer, but great things often happen when he steps into the director's chair. The Man Who Would Be Vogue is a riveting, glitzy and glamorous affair, and Murphy's showy direction should turn enough heads to take home the award.
