7. The Show Was Fast Paced & Ended On Time

It might sound like a back-handed compliment to praise an awards show for ending on time, but time management is clearly something which they struggle with most.

And so, for this year's Emmys to end just shy of three hours was certainly a relief, but more importantly, the pacing throughout the broadcast kept up a (mostly) consistent clip.

Even the overdone reunion skits were at least built into the show, with those involved typically giving out an award or two to help them feel a bit more pointful and efficient.

Furthermore, the show also made canny use of lower-third chyrons to allow overwhelmed nominees to thank hordes of people at once on-screen without having to verbalise a laundry list of names.

It wasn't a perfect show by any means from a production standpoint, but many other awards ceremonies could learn a thing or two from how swiftly this year's Emmys moved along. Your turn, Oscars.
