Emmys 2024 Review: 9 Ups & 7 Downs
3. Paul Walter Hauser Raps His Acceptance Speech
One of the more deserved wins of the night which frankly hasn't been championed enough is the great Paul Walter Hauser winning a Best Supporting Actor Emmy for his astonishing performance in superb mini-series Black Bird.
Hauser's performance was widely raved about when the show premiered back in the summer of 2022, and while more recent shows like Beef seemed to threaten his win through sheer recency alone, Emmy voters thankfully remembered just how brilliant he was.
And to top it off, Hauser took to the stage and decided to perform his acceptance speech in the form of a rap, thanking his fellow Black Bird cast and crew members, friends, family, and, being a huge wrestling fan, even making hilariously unexpected references to wrestlers Matt Cardona, Kota Ibushi, and the Dudley Boyz.
Amid the swath of heartfelt and dead-ordinary acceptance speeches, this was nothing if not a breath of fresh air.
