This year's Emmy show will go down in history as one of the most diverse and inclusive of all time, and given that Hollywood still struggles to produce awards shows which provide consistent representation, it was most certainly welcome - especially on Martin Luther King Jr. Day of all days.

Anthony Anderson may have jokingly called it the "Chocolate Emmys," but prominent wins for Black artists such as Ayo Edibiri (The Bear), Trevor Noah (The Daily Show with Trevor Noah), Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elemetnary), Niecy Nash-Betts (Dahmer), and RuPaul (RuPaul's Drag Race), as well as awards for Asian-Americans Steven Yeun and Ali Wong (Beef), ensured that there was a diverse array of faces on stage to accept Emmys.

The ceremony's Governor Award also fittingly went to GLAAD for their tireless work fighting for meaningful LGBTQ+ representation on television, accepted by GLAAD president and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis in a heartfelt speech.

There's still plenty of work to be done where representation of all kinds on TV is concerned, but the Emmy results nevertheless indicate that positive changes are continuing to happen.
