1. Including 9/11 In The TV Celebration

During the show, Television Academy president Frank Scherma took to the stage to introduce a montage commemorating the 75th Emmys, celebrating the 75 "most impactful moments" in the history of the medium.

Not a terrible idea, and one that focused mostly on major TV events like J.R. being shot on Dallas, Ellen coming out, and Game of Thrones' Red Wedding, as well historical artefacts like the Moon landing, the O.J. Simpson Bronco chase and... 9/11.

Showing the Twin Tower attacks under the strangely celebratory banner "moments that captivated the nation," complete with oddly chirpy music was definitely a choice.

While 9/11 is an undeniable moment of historical significance for TV, America, and indeed the world, this montage didn't manage to quite strike the intended tone and instead came off as a bit awkward and tacky.

These gripes accepted, though, here's everything that the show got right...
